The Type 8775A is an orientable single axis accelerometer that can measure acceleration in the direction shown by the markings shown on the head of the sensor. This accelerometer has a ±50 g measuring range.
The Kistler 8775A is a lightweight single-axis IEPE accelerometer that can be oriented to measure in any direction perpendicular to its 10-32 connector. It has a ±50 g range, 100 mV/g sensitivity, and a 0.5 … 7,000 Hz (±5%) frequency response. A hermetic titanium housing and ceramic shear element keep base strain immunity high, and a TEDS option and IP68 integral cable are available.

What does the 8775A measure?
The Type 8775A is an orientable single-axis accelerometer that measures acceleration in the direction shown by the markings on the head of the sensor. It has a ±50 g measuring range.
The 8775A is an IEPE (Integrated Electronics Piezo-Electric), lightweight single-axis accelerometer. Its lightweight design reduces the effect of mass loading on test structures. Kistler shear element technology assures high immunity to base strain, and the welded titanium construction provides a lightweight hermetic housing. An integral silicone cable option is available for waterproof vibration testing up to 16 bar.
The 8775A can be mounted adhesively or fastened into the Delrin mounting block 8475AK01. Using the Delrin mounting block reduces the upper frequency response of the sensor. Unique to the 8775A is its capability to be oriented in any direction: in the mounting block, it can be freely oriented in any direction perpendicular to the 10-32 coaxial connector, with vibration measured in the direction of the arrow etched onto the surface of the sensor.
Why engineers pick it
Set the measurement axis on the structure. The 8775A can be oriented in any direction perpendicular to its connector, so one sensor type covers measurement points in different directions.
Low mass loading. At 5.2 g, the lightweight design reduces the effect of mass loading on test structures.
Low noise. Threshold is 0.00022 grms (1 … 10 kHz) with 100 mV/g sensitivity.
Waterproof and TEDS options. The IP68 integral cable is tested at 16 bar for 48 hours, and TEDS variants support IEEE 1451.4 and LMS templates.

How is the 8775A mounted?
Attach the 8775A directly to the test surface with adhesive, or clamp it in the Delrin mounting block Type 8475AK01 at a clamping torque of 0.25 +0.05 N·m (2.2 +0.4 lbf·in). Adhesive mounting keeps the specified frequency response. In the Delrin block with Type 1063 grease, the upper frequency response drops to 3 kHz (±5%) and 4 kHz (±10%).
When is the 8775A the wrong choice?
High frequencies in the mounting block. If you need response above 3 kHz (±5%), mount the sensor directly with adhesive rather than in the Delrin block.
Ranges above ±50 g. The 8775A comes in a single ±50 g range.
Temperatures above 212 °F (100 °C). The operating range is −65 … 212 °F (−54 … 100 °C).
8775A FAQ
It measures in the direction of the arrow etched on its surface, and in the Delrin mounting block 8475AK01 it can be turned to any direction perpendicular to the 10-32 connector.
±50 g, with 100 mV/g ±15% sensitivity.
Yes. With the Delrin block and Type 1063 grease, the upper limit drops to 3 kHz (±5%) and 4 kHz (±10%). Adhesive mounting keeps the full specified response.
The SP integral cable option is IP68, tested at 16 bar for 48 hours.
−65 … 212 °F (−54 … 100 °C).
An ISO 17025 calibration certificate, plus an IP68 test certificate of conformity with the SP option.
Ground-isolated and differential sensors are preferable for long cable runs. The maximum cable length can be calculated from I = 2 · π · f · C · E, where I is the current in amperes, f the frequency in Hz, C the cable capacitance in farads (typically 98 pF/m), and E the peak output in volts.
