What it is
The Qualmark T-series are dual-purpose HALT/HASS systems that combine rapid-shock vibration with extreme, fast thermal cycling in one chamber. HALT (Highly Accelerated Life Test) and HASS (Highly Accelerated Stress Screen) drive out design and process flaws fast by applying repetitive-shock vibration and rapid thermal change together. Each T-series system pairs an xLF2 six-degree-of-freedom repetitive-shock vibration table, capable of well over 60 gRMS, with a thermal system that uses vacuum-jacketed liquid-nitrogen injection cooling and open-element nichrome heating for a −100 to +200 °C range at ramp rates of about 70 °C/min. Six table sizes cover benchtop through very large test articles.
- Dual-purpose HALT and HASS in one system
- Repetitive-shock vibration, six degrees of freedom, in excess of 60 gRMS
- Temperature range −100 to +200 °C (optional −100 to +250 °C on the T2.5 and T4.0)
- Thermal ramp rate approximately 70 °C/min (vacuum-jacketed LN2 cooling, nichrome heating)
- Six models: T1.5, T2.0, T2.5, T3.0, T4.0, and T8.0 (18 in up to 100 × 48 in tables)
- Table capacities from 80 lb to 1,200 lb
- xLF2 vibration table with PLC control and a desktop PC running Typhoon Manager software
What it is used for
T-series systems apply combined stress to accelerate failure discovery:
- HALT (Highly Accelerated Life Test) — finding design weaknesses fast during development
- HASS (Highly Accelerated Stress Screen) — screening out process-induced defects in production
- Combined stress testing — simultaneous rapid-shock vibration and thermal cycling
- Solder-joint and surface-mount fault detection — exposing weak joints and SMT weaknesses
- Design-margin discovery — accelerating fatigue to reveal operating and destruct limits
The model range
All models cover −100 to +200 °C at an approximately 70 °C/min ramp. The T8.0 has the largest vibration table available. On the T2.5 and larger, the table can be mounted in an upper or lower position to suit different products and ergonomics.
Key features
Rapid-shock vibration. A six-degree-of-freedom repetitive-shock system in excess of 60 gRMS drives out flaws faster than traditional single-axis vibration.
Extreme, fast thermal cycling. Vacuum-jacketed LN2 injection cooling and open-element nichrome heating give a −100 to +200 °C range with approximately 70 °C/min ramps.
Combined environment. Vibration and thermal stress are applied together, the core of effective HALT and HASS.
Modern control. An xLF2 vibration table with PLC control and a desktop PC running Typhoon Manager software, with high-rate and high-flow operation and PSD management.
Scalable. Six table sizes from an 18 in table to a 100 × 48 in table carrying 1,200 lb, with greater load capacities available as custom options.
Why engineers pick it
The HALT/HASS standard. Qualmark is the world's largest HALT/HASS provider, and the T-series is its dual-purpose workhorse.
Real combined stress. Six-degree-of-freedom repetitive shock above 60 gRMS with approximately 70 °C/min thermal cycling in one chamber.
Sized to the product. Table sizes and capacities from benchtop to very large assemblies.
Extendable and supported. An optional −100 to +250 °C range on select models, plus a full LN2 infrastructure and accessory ecosystem.
Configuring and ordering
Choose the model (T1.5 through T8.0) for your table size, capacity, and gRMS need, then add the high-temperature range option and the LN2 infrastructure to suit your facility. Note that acceleration does not rise uniformly with table size, and that the extended −100 to +250 °C range is offered only on the T2.5 and T4.0, so check both figures against the model you are sizing.
If you do not need vibration. The Espec EXT series uses the same thermal architecture — LN2 injection cooling, nichrome heating, and Typhoon Manager control across a −100 to +200 °C range at 70 °C/min — without the repetitive-shock table, and can be retrofitted with a Qualmark vibration table later for full HALT capability.
Per-model workspace and outer dimensions are in the Specifications tab. Because a HALT/HASS system involves table configuration, LN2 supply, and fixturing, select your starting configuration on this page and contact W5 Engineering to finalize table setup, LN2 infrastructure, and accessories.
