Road Load Data Analysis (RLDA) for Structural Validation of Aurora System
W5 Engineering partnered with Aurora to deliver a comprehensive Road Load Data Analysis (RLDA) campaign. Using strain gages, accelerometers, and DEWESoft DAQ, we transformed real-world mechanical loads into actionable data for structural validation and durability assessment.

Rugged Solar-Powered Data Acquisition System for Utility-Scale Tracker Validation
W5 Engineering developed a turnkey, solar-powered data acquisition (DAQ) solution for Nextracker to validate utility-scale solar tracker performance in extreme field environments. Facing the challenge of remote locations with no power infrastructure, W5 integrated DEWESoft KRYPTON hardware and FUTEK load cells into a self-sustaining, IP67-rated ecosystem. The system features a custom-engineered solar power architecture with MPPT charging and battery storage, ensuring 24/7 autonomous operation. By housing high-resolution sensors and a fanless industrial PC within a weather-resistant enclosure, W5 provided Nextracker with the ability to capture high-fidelity structural and load data without the need for grid power or generators—drastically accelerating their engineering validation cycles in the harshest environments on earth.

Protecting Critical Infrastructure – Trans Bay Cable Seismic Monitoring
W5 Engineering delivered a turnkey seismic monitoring solution for Trans Bay Cable in the SF Bay Area, installing 11 MEMS sensors, wireless data systems, and DEWESoft integration for critical infrastructure protection.

Identifying Vibration Sources in Foundry Operations
Foundries present a unique challenge when it comes to industrial vibration monitoring. This detailed case study explains the methodology used to pinpoint the exact source of excessive ground vibrations affecting a local residential area. Discover how engineers used multichannel vibration analysis and FFT (Fast Fourier Transform) techniques in DewesoftX software to differentiate between multiple vibrating machines. The key finding was the identification of a complex beating effect caused by the superposition of two units operating at close frequencies, demonstrating the necessity of high-precision condition monitoring to resolve complex noise and vibration problems.

The Critical Role of Wind Noise Testing in the EV Era
The increasing popularity and growing offering of electric vehicles (EVs), are changing many aspects associated with vehicle sound and acoustics (see our posts related to the in-cabin soundscape of the EV, for example). The classic issue of pass-by noise testing is no exception. Still a crucial aspect of automotive design and regulation, it has evolved to ensure that EVs (and other vehicles) not only meet the maximum noise limits set by various national and international regulations, but also adhere to new minimum noise requirements.
